Name: Taja
Nickname(s): None
Age: Four years old
Gender: Female( duh xD)
Species: African lion
Orientation: Straight
Length: Seven feet even
Height: 3 feet 8 inches
Weight: approx. 300 lb when well fed
Appearance: Taja has pretty much all the usual looks of a female lion. A tawny coat that grows to a darker tone toward the spine and lighter toward the belly and legs stretches over her large muscular frame which is only medium size for a female lion. A couple of mud brown spots linger on her legs from when she was a cub, but they have grown faint over the years. The only true variation of the color scheme of Taja's golden pelt is her tail tuft, the color of the darkest night, a coal black.
A black nose and golden eyes draw full attention to a face that is most often full of curiosity and cunning. Leathery lips curl gracefully over her long white fang, the bone and muscles behind them are strong enough to crack bone, the delicate pink tounge tough enough to scrape flesh and marrow from the bone. Darker spots poise themselves over the inner most part of each eye marking the long fiber-like whiskers these spots are filled with. Smaller darker brown spots cover her maw, marking more of the whiskers' roots. Thick fur fills her ears to repel the small biting flies that plague most african animals, because truely nothing is worse than a fly in your ear.
(It is had to see but Taja has a clouding over her left eye. It was from an accident as a cub that she obtained this. She can still see shapes from that eye but it gets pretty fuzzy. Her right eye is completely fine though.)
Likes: Meat, naps, hunting, butterflies and insects (except flies)
Dislikes: Dust storms, mud, failed hunts, flies
Strengths:
Hunting skills: Being a lioness, Taja is required to hunt for any pride she may reside in. Hunting for her home pride has given her good experience in this area.
Youth: Taja may be three years old already, but she still has many of the mindsets of a cub at times. She enjoys playing with cubs, and is fascinated with everything that moves.
Kindness/Mercy/Acceptance: Taja will refuse to kill any wild cat. She will threaten and chase them off if they near her family, but won't mind becoming friends with one or two animals outside her species of cat. She will show no mercy if you go anywhere near her cubs without permission though.
Weaknesses:
Curiosity: Taja becomes fascinated with anything that moves, and this often leads her into some bad situations. She is slightly blind in her left eye due to an accident because of her curiosity, but still can't seem to reign in her curiosity.
Fellow cats: Because of her acceptance of other species of cats, Taja can often be looked down upon by other lions who will kill any other big cat in the area. They find her sense of mercy a weakening trait.
Taja was born far from where she has wandered now, in a small pride of lions. Her father and uncle took care of the pride, fathering three sets of cubs over all. It was Taja's set, however, that marked the change of times. It didn't happen right away of course, but it happened gradually. Her father and uncle were growing older, and many fellow males could see this. More and more males came to challenge for the land and females. Every time the lionesses, her father and uncle rallied together, fighting off the attackers. During this time, Taja watched one of the fights, through curiosity. An attacker was thrown off her fathers back and came rolling toward her. In her panicked flight, Taja ran up a tree. Most lions have trouble doing this, without swiveling ankles like jaguars. However young and light lions as Taja was have an easier time springing into the branches. When the fight ended, Taja slid down the tree, not seeing the loose rocks on her landing spot. Taja came down, ungracefully as all lions when they try to dismount trees. and went skittering across the loose rock. Falling, on her side, one of the rocks struck her eye, scratching the lens and ruining her perfect eyesight forever. When Taja and her brothers and sisters became adolescents, however, fate struck. Her father fell ill with a parasite and died quickly, leaving her uncle wide open for attack from males who banded together.
Two brother males came with the setting sun and attacked Uncle as the pride was waking. Uncle's death roars were Taja's signal to leave. She was too young to breed, but too old to kill for bing a cub. Taja just managed to escape the two new rulers, her siblings scattering as they ran so they could not be pursued. Taja never saw her family again and set out on her own. During this time she reached true maturity, growing into a pretty figure. She has now decided it is time to join a pride once again and become a mother and provider for a family.
